EOHR demands immediate inquiry into acts of
    genocide against Iraqi citizens

    11/4/2004
The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) expresses its condemnation of the brutal crimes committed by American occupation forces against Iraqi civilians in Faluja.

It considers these crimes tantamount to genocide against the Iraqi people and a breach of international law, namely the Fourth Geneva Convention relative to the Treatment of Civilians in time of War [1949].
The events of Faluja resemble the Jenin massacre perpetrated by the Israeli occupation forces in 2002.

American marines began their action against civilian homes and mosques in Falluja on the 5/4/2004 supposedly with the aim of arresting those responsible for the killing of three American civilians and the desecration of their bodies on the 31/3/2004.
While condemning this crime as a violation of international human rights conventions EOHR is appalled by reports indicating that more than 450 Iraqi civilians have been killed and 1,000 injured during the consequent American action which is not restricted to Faluja but rather encompasses other Iraqi towns.
American random aggression against Falluja's mosques and civilian districts carried out using F-16 aircraft and tanks refute the justifications proffered by the American administration for the Iraqi occupation, as does the siege of the town, the prevention of humanitarian and medical aid from reaching Falluja and the detention of civilians.

    EOHR demands:
      1. An end to all military action carried out by the occupation forces in Iraq, the immediate intervention of the United Nations in order to establish peace and security.

      2. The handing-over of power to the Iraqis on the appointed date (30th June) after free elections to choose a stable government for the country.

      3. The immediate intervention of the Arab League to stop the shedding of Iraqi civilian. Arab countries must provide spiritual and material support for Iraqi people are paying the price of the war.

      4. That Arab states demand an urgent meeting of the Security Council in order to discuss recent developments in Iraq.

      5. That the government of the United States immediately establishes an inquiry into the excessive use of force during current military campaigns in Iraq and identify those responsible for the war crimes committed against the Iraqi people, in accordance with the 1949 Geneva Convention.

      6. The immediate intervention of all regional and international humanitarian organisations for the protection of Iraqi civilians from the attacks of occupation powers- an infringement of international law.
