EOHR sent a dispatch to Supreme Council for Press to inform about Rose el Yousef news paper false news
29/9/2005

The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) sent a dispatch to Safwat el Sherif, head of Supreme Council for Press to inform about the false news issued in Rose el Yousef principal page and fourth page entitled 'civil society organizations monitored presidential elections via 10 Million', including EOHR's Secretary- General picture without any comment, which is considered a severe violation, and the media has to take a strict act towards this situation and declare the truth to public opinion.

The dispatch was presented under the custody of EOHR's spokesman Hafez abu Seada, the dispatch states the following:
'I have witnessed Rose el Yousef published articles on Thursday 29/9/2005, entitled 'civil society organizations monitored presidential elections via 10 Million',
this title was scheduled on the principal page, and on the fourth page with heads of research centres' comment concerning USA's financial aid to civil society organizations to monitor the previous presidential elections, Moreover,
The article included my picture, which has no business with the whole situation, besides, I haven't made any discussions with the media related to this situation, and neither EOHR nor Civil Society Coalition Monitoring Observatory - which we are the coalition's principal coordinator - took any financial aid from USA to monitor presidential elections.

The doers also surprisingly wrote that twenty-two NGOs (coalition members), grabs Million dollars and a half, as a financial aid to monitor the elections, discarding coalition's members and USA's finance opinion. In my opinion, the media must declare the truth and the doers must be punished, in which this is considered an unforgivable abuse to press honour covenant'.

In addition, Civil Society Coalition Monitoring Observatory, which includes twenty-two civil society organizations, monitored the elections via convening training sessions around the monitoring process, and also published reports and statements around electoral process progress; the whole situation was praised for its objectivity and neutralization.
