EOHR calls for investigation in the death of 'Gomaa Saad El Zeftawy' in Kafr El Sheikh

The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) condemns the death incident of Gomaa Saad El Zeftawy, a supporter of Al-Karama and National Front Movement candidate (Hamdeen Sabahy), in poll station (Rezq Hamamu Primary School) situated in Constituency (Al-Borlos and Al-Hammul) in Kafr El Sheikh Governorate, the supporter was injured badly in which security forces spread tear gas bombs and gun fires on public voters.
In Kafr El Sheikh Governorate, EOHR observer monitored the spread of security forces in some poll stations in Constituency (Al-Borlos and Al Hamul), in which it witnessed the competition between El Sabahy and the NDP candidate 'Ali Ragab' on syndic professions seat, forces deprived citizens from getting into the poll stations and then they throw gun fires, rubber bullets and tear gas bombs at 1 am. The result was the death of the supporter Gomaa (35 years) and his colleagues (Mohamed Hamdeen Sabah, Adel Mohamed Abu El Att, Fouad Abdel Mawla Ahmed, Abu El Saaoud Abdel Khaleq Mohamed, Salah El Tonsy, El Said Desouqy Abu Arafa, Hany Fawzy Aamer, Ahmed Moaawad Abu Hamady, Abdel Nasser Abdel Sattar Ibrahim, Salem Salem Ismaeel, Mostafa El Sahrawy, Mohamed Sharaf, Hamdy Nawar, and finally Osama El Saeed Eid), they all lie in Balteem Public Hospital, while the supporter (Adel Mohamed Abu El Atty) is in a critical state, and the other supporters who are in a critical state lie in Al-Mansoura Hospital.
Accordingly, EOHR calls Interior Ministry to stop security forces' violent acts against supporters, and it demands immediate investigation in the death incident and to bring the doers to the prosecution as soon as possible. In addition, security forces must take a positive role in protecting the whole electoral procedures (poll stations, ballot boxes, candidates, voters and the judges) from any violent acts could affect negatively on the electoral process. Moreover they also must facilitate the voting process for citizens discarding all restrictions.
