EOHR staged up an ordinance to the General Prosecutor on Ayman Nour's continuous hunger strike
|
20/12/2005
On the 12th of December 2005, The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) staged-up an ordinance to Maher Abdel Wahed (the General Prosecutor) on the hunger strike held by Dr. Ayman Nour, chair of al-Ghad Party and a former member of People's Assembly, since Friday (9/ 12 /2005) until now.
Ayman Nour's hunger strike was held due two reasons, refusing Cairo Criminal Court's decree of detention until the Court puts the law term on the trial's litigation - which was postponed to (24 /12/ 2005) - and ill treatment inside his detention place.
On this pretext, EOHR presented its ordinance to the General Prosecutor, via registration no 19514 of [2005], to release Dr. Nour Immediately for his deteriorated health state.
The ordinance adopt the provisions of Criminal Procedures Law in Articles [486 - 489] which stated the General- Prosecution's capability to prosecute the defendant when his health status is in a better state, especially if he is in a crucial state, In addition also to the fact that Nour is a patient of high blood pressure, diabetes and gastric ulcer.
In an investigation session held on (21 /2 / 2005), Nour was confronted to a heart attack from 6 pm to 1 am, because he suffers from limited coronary artery.
Finally, EOHR denounces the transgression acts held via security forces in the Supreme Judiciary Council, in which they deprived Civil Society Associations' fact- finding mission- including a female lawyer from EOHR- from escalading to the General Prosecutor, under pretence that they carry out the Prosecutor's orders.
