On the first anniversary of the detention of Muhamed Abbu, lawyer and human rights activist, the Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR)condemns the continuation of his detention despite the decision issued by the Tunisian President Zain el Abedeen Ben Ali to release 1600 prisoners which didn't include Abbu.
Muhamed Abbu was sentenced to three and half years of imprisonment on 29 /4 / 05 in two suits 18069 and 19031 after the publishing of his article on the internet where he criticized situations in Tunisia.
EOHR emphasizes its respect to the Tunisian judiciary, however, it senses that this case lacks some measures of fair trial set by international instruments concerned with human rights and fair trial, taking into consideration that freedom of expression is furnished by all international human rights documents.
Accordingly, EOHR calls for the Tunisian authorities to release Muhamed Abbu who is considered to be a prisoner of conscious in Tunisia.
