The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) with Cairo Institute for Human Rights Study and the Arab Network for Human Rights Information, with the Syndicate of Journalists and the Journalists Protection Committee will hold a seminar on the event of the world press freedom day, entitled, "what the Arabs are losing by detentions and arrests in publishing and freedom of expression cases" on 11 a.m. Wednesday May 3rd 2006 at the Journalists Syndicate in Cairo, the seminar will be attended by a group of intellectuals, academia members and media officials, and it will tackle two issues:
First: detention in publishing cases in the Arab world, include:
a- Introduction to the legal instruments and freedom confiscating tools in the Arab world, related to the journalism and publishing cases, and in Egypt as well.
b- Journalists' arrest worldwide, and democracy in the Arab states.
c- Journalists Syndicate campaign for abolishing the detention in cases of publishing.
d- Arrest in publishing and freedom of expression cases in Arab states (Yemen as a model).
e- Arrest in publishing cases, false accusations against journalists and opposition in Tunisia.
Second: A way out to abolish arrest in cases of expression and publishing
