Dear Mr./ Mrs.,
The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights cordially invites you to participate in the round-table discussion taking place on Monday 7th August 2006 entitled: " Israeli Aggression on Southern Lebanon…Legal, Political and Humanitarian Dimensions", at Taha Housain Hall, the Journalists Syndicate, 6:00 PM.
Your participation will enrich the discussion. The participants of the discussion will include international law professors, writers, researchers, intellectuals and human rights activists. The discussion will be chaired by His Excellency Dr. Boutros Boutros Ghaly, President of the Egyptian National Council for Human Rights, in addition to giving an opening speech.
This discussion aims to evaluate the current situation in Lebanon after the rise of violence from the Israeli side which lead it to violate international legitimacy, in addition to the absence of an active role from the United Nations and international community's responsibility towards the Israeli aggressions against the Palestinian and the Lebanese people.
The round-table discussion also aims to answer some questions such as the following: to what extent the Israeli violations of international law reaches? Till when the American cover-up of Israeli violations to Arab peoples rights? What are the ways to enact the Security Council role in containing the Lebanese crises? What are the possibilities of establishing an international tribunal for Israeli war criminals for what they committed against Lebanese and Palestinian civilians in addition to crimes committed against Egyptian PoW's in 1956 and 1967 and Sabra and Shateela Massacre in 1982? What are the available means for regional and international NGO's in order to establish such tribunal, especially while Israel is not a signatory of the Four Geneva Conventions 1949 ? what are the obstacles and how can they overcome them?
Many thanks and best regards…
Hafez Abu Seada
