EOHR workshop: the Sinai Bedouins…challenges and tools for confronting them

The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) is holding a workshop 'the Sinai Bedouins…challenges and tools for confronting them' on Wednesday, 16th May 2007 at 5 p.m. in the Gowaher Room of the Shepherd Hotel, Cairo. Members of the People's Assembly and Shura Council, politicians, human rights activists and Bedouins from north Sinai will all take part in the workshop.
Hafez Abu Seada, Secretary General of EOHR made clear that the workshop will seek to define the political, economic, social and cultural challenges facing the Bedouin and identify tools for confronting and overcoming these challenges. The workshop will conclude with testimonies from Bedouins from north Sinai describing the violations they are exposed to.
Abu Seada added that the workshop follows a worsening in the crisis of the Sinai Bedouin, especially after the Taba and Sharm el-Sheikh bombings and the killing of two Bedouins related to the bombings. This has resulted in a sharp deterioration in the situation in north Sinai, which demands that solutions be found quickly.
