The meeting of the Egyptian Organization For Human Rights' General Assembly
The 11 items program

Dr.Yehia El Gamal - Constitutional Law professor at Cairo University, was chosen as honorary president in the first meeting of EOHR general assembly after its declaration from Social Solidarity Ministry .

EOHR held this meeting in its headquarter on Friday 26th October 2007 with attendance of 100 members from EOHR's branches. Participants agreed to form a Consultant Council for EOHR that includes its members in different Egyptian governorates to solve its own problems, the violations who Egyptian citizens are facing and to activate the role of regional committees' members. Identical cards will be prepared to facilitate their role in defending and striving and much interest will be given to Egyptian south governorates and the north of Sinai.

EOHR prepared a program including 11 items about the following period of time to concentrate on social and economic rights, recognizing citizens' problems, shedding light on farmers and workers' problems and taking care of women, children and environment cases, Hafez Abou Seda confirmed.

EOHR will take care of freedom of opinion and expression especially after the clear degradation for this freedom and the increasing number of journalists who are being set under trial just because of expressing their opinions; also EOHR will do its best in canceling the negative punishments for freedom to create free press able to practice its role as an independent Fourth Estate by releasing the freedom of newspapers' possession, by scrutinizing the governmental possession for national newspapers and press' institutions in order not to be monopolized by one side and one party, adopting a mechanical legal power for blaming and setting an account on information covering any public or governmental side and canceling all restrictions which are intercepting the freedom of the information flow making sure not to distinguish to get information from different newspapers, Abou Seda clarified.

Among the board of trustees were Dr.Mostafa Kamel El Sayed ,political science professor ,and Mrs.Farida El Nakash, editor in chief of El Ahaly newspaper, and Ghada Shahbander ,coordinator of Shayfenkoum movement.

EOHR's program of 11 items in the following 3 years: 1- Confirming EOHR's role in receiving complaints from individuals and groups who are related to violation issues, making sure of its credibility, calling the official sides, sending fact-finding delegates, visiting prisons and detaining places and monitoring trials and investigations of most of the cases related to human rights.

2- Supporting EOHR role in spreading the human rights culture among society levels especially young people of universities and lawyers - as they are considered the future new generation - through training courses and workshops .Teaching human rights in schools and universities was EOHR's demand from its earlier foundation in 1985. EOHR calls for teaching human rights-related subjects to the students of police academies to know how to deal with citizens inside and outside prisons.

3- Taking a great interest in economic, social and cultural rights as human rights are considered as an integrated system that must never be divided and no one can do any activity concerning civil and political rights without taking into serious consideration economic, social and cultural rights.

4- Forcing the Egyptian Government to ratify all kinds of international covenants related to human rights without any reservations.

5- Revising the Egyptian legal structure from all restricting laws especially emergency law which has a bad effect on the human rights system.

6- Giving deep interests to freedom of opinion and expression files especially after the degradation occurred to this freedom and the increased numbers of journalists who were set under trial just because of expressing their opinions.

7- Regarded to EOHR's efforts in torture file, it repeats its calling for a quick decision-taking regarding the project which was presented before concerning to amend some Articles related to torture in penal code (126-129-280) and criminal procedures (232) and issuing a law in order to recognize the civil suitor's right to stand before misdemeanor courts in assaulted crimes against personal freedom or the sanctity of citizens private life, including crimes stipulated in penal codes No.126 which punishes every person who force defendant to get information and crimes stipulated in Articles 280-282 which punish arresting without clear reasons.

8- Forcing the pressure on the Egyptian Government to stop working with emergency status and enacting a new law for fighting terrorism which was decided to be issued by the Government in the following year, and ensuring that human rights are a target which doesn't conflict with any kind of terrorism fighting.

9- EOHR seeks to take care of the women file as it is considered a vital file for human rights system despite the appearance of women assemblies to introduce a new society depending on the respect of woman and appreciating her role since she is considered the second part of the society and its corner stone for developing; therefore EOHR decides to support the political and development role of Egyptian women.

10- EOHR shows extreme interests concerning the Egyptian file abroad, it apologizes for governmental absence in protecting human rights of individuals abroad. Therefore EOHR will arrange a future plan to find solutions for their problems supporting them with the most legal and moral aspects, as they are Egyptians who are enjoying with citizenship, through establishing legal offices related to the Egyptian organization in Arabic countries and other non Arabic countries including a group of legal experts to support our sons abroad. These offices will work and cooperate with human rights organizations and the Egyptian Foreign Affair Ministry of the country where the office will be established.

11- Supporting and cooperating with organizations and assemblies which are working in the human rights field in all national, regional and international levels.
