a workshop will be held by EOHR concerning terrorism on the next Monday

Egyptian Organization For Human Rights will hold a workshop about “The problem of defining terrorism and the Egyptian legislation in the face of terrorism” on the next Monday at 5:30 pm . This workshop includes the following speakers :-
Dr.. Mohamed Nour Farhat, Professor of - International Law, University of Zagazig.
Mr.. Saad Hagras, Vice President- of El Gomhoria center for the Study of Counter-Terrorism.
General- Fuad Allam, security expert.
Mr. Dia Rashwan, an expert at Al-Ahram- Centre for Political and Strategic Studies.
The workshop will include university professors and a number of members of People's Assembly and Shura Council and representatives of parties and political forces and civil society activists .
Mr. Hafez Abu Seada confirmed that this workshop tries to answer several questions such as :
- The possibility of defining terrorism in the light of various definitions, and the necessity to differentiate between legitimate resistance and terrorism .!!
- The adequacy or inadequacy of legislation and legal procedures in preserving the security of the state in order not to face risks , in other words , is there a need for enacting a law against terrorism and there is already a Law No. 97 1992 to combat terrorism that includes legal provisions for fighting terrorist crime and it is considered one of the more stringent provisions on the level of legislation in the World .!!
- Does the Terrorism Law that supposed to be issued just like the exceptional emergency law.!!
Abu Seada added that this workshop is the first activity that will be held in the light of terrorism fighting project by EOHR with the cooperation with European union ,whose target is to support the democratic development in Egypt through monitoring and controlling the impact of including the articles of terrorism law in the constitutional amendments and how to achieve the balance between fighting terrorism and protecting human rights.
The workshop will discuss all controversial issues and problematic topics raised by the subject of terrorism, such as: the definition of terrorism and problems associated with the concept and Egyptian legislation in the face of terrorism , and regional and international legislation to combat terrorism and the lessons learned from the practical and applied side , and the need for a new law to fight terrorism, and the abolition of the state of emergency in Egypt,
The workshop will be concluded with forming a technical committee for following up the political and legislative developments concerning terrorism law which supposed to be issued .
