Models of Families under Detention
First family
Four members of this family were all detained at the same time and only in the year 2001 one of them was released. Their father died and the mother was the sole supporter of the family. She suffers under severe illness and can not visit her sons. She takes care of her mother and goes to visit her sons from time to time. The sister of the three sons, whose husband is also in detention, has financial problems and is using the pension of her father, which she spends in order to meet the needs of her family and the house and also to visit her brothers and husband, who are put in different and far away prisons. This consequently makes it hard for the family to be able to visit the sons constantly.
1- Salah Mohamed Mohamed was detained on the 15th of August 1991 and was moved from a prison to another until he was sent to the one in Assiut. He is 45 years old and has 3 sons, the oldest of them is 13 years old. He has several illnesses (one of them is slipped disc) and he needs an operation, but the hospital of the prison did not do it to him. Nowadays, he is studying law inside the prison and does not have a constant financial resource.
2- Alaa El Din Mohamed Mohamed was detained in the year 1992 and was moved to many prisons and now he is in Wady El Gedid prison He is 39 years old, single and was a student in the Faculty of Engineering, but he was prevented from taking the exam of year 2000. He also suffers from bronchitis.

He has two sons in different educational stages and his wife is providing money for the whole family and suffers from the fact that her brothers and husband are not put in one prison.
Second family
This family can be considered luckier then the previous one. Only three members of this family are in prison and all are put in Wady Natroon 2 prison. They have a younger brother and their parents live on the pension of the father, who has a number of illnesses and has no other financial source but the pension. The mother usually gets the permissions and the necessary papers to visit her sons, and because the family sometimes faces shortage in money, the family has to sell some of its furniture from time to time in order to be able to visit the three sons in prison. The mother is calling the Ministry of Interior to release one of her sons in order to help the family financially. Also one of her sons is sick and has septic colon and his health condition is getting worse everyday.

This creates huge physical and financial load on the grandmother, who told the organization that she wishes the day will come when her sons will get out of prison and will work and she will get the physical and mental rest she deserves before her death.
1- Ahmed Hamed Abdel Hamid Azzam was detained in 1993 and was moved from a prison to another until he was held in the prison of Damanhour.
